Textile sculptures

My experience with textiles has led me to the three projects presented in this section.

"Anahita" showcases breasts emerging from a cut-up pomegranate, seeds running out from where the nipples should be. It is a project about the censorship of women's bodies.
2021

"Overload" is a wearable group project made by myself and four colleagues, for the "Fast Fabric for Fashion Innovation" held in Portugal, Czech Republic and Latvia, divided into two parts: the head, and the body. The body piece carries seven bags, each ornamented with a different technique. It is a project related to the weights carried by women daily, where each bag represents a different emotion (rage, stress, guilt, frustration, despair, shame, and fear) weighing down on their body and mind.
2022

"Palavras" is a book about five negative emotions, each page dedicated to a different one: Loneliness, Guilt, Fear, Rage, and Sadness. This project explores what each of us felt and experienced during the COVID lockdown and how we dealt with these emotions, a project set forth by an art therapist and five visual artists of her choice, who each presented a piece of art for one of the emotions for us to take inspiration in. It was later exhibited at Escola Artística Soares dos Reis.
